Wong Residence
San Francisco, California/Not build

An ambitious project perched on a cliff overlooking the Golden Gate, in the Seacliff neighborhood of San Francisco. This large residence was designed around the progression of three exterior spaces: an entry garden, a central courtyard, and at the end the view of the entrance to San Francisco Bay. These elements provided reference points along the circulation path, as well as the introduction of light and view to the long, extruded plan.

Dramatically modern in expression, the project faced lengthy neighborhood opposition. Eventually we were successful in gaining approval for construction, but the process took its toll, and the client eventually elected not to build on the site.

Client: Stephen and Natalie Wong
