This is a stunning hilltop site with a large lawn area and a view of The South Bay watershed. The challenge of the design was to incorporate the client's 8,000 sq. ft. program into the 6,000 sq. ft. maximum building size allowed by Woodside. A sunken entry garden crossed over by a footbridge, became the vehicle by which light and air could be introduced into the basement level (basement sq. ft. does not count in overall size).

The house is divided into two wings separating family living from entertainment, and the children's bedroom from the master. Linking them is a circular stair encased in a stacked glass "box", which also acts as the focal point for the entry footbridge.
